How To / Help / FAQ

Steps:

Step 1: Select a dataset to use in downloading data.
Options current and historical estimates (2010-present), and 2050 Regional Growth Forecast (2008 and every 5-year increment from 2020-2050).

Step 2: Select the year(s) for which you want to download data. Click Next.
Year selection options may be limited by the dataset selected in Step 1. For example, estimate data are only available from 2001 to present.

Step 3: Select the geographic type for which you would like to download data. Click Next.
For a map of the geographies available, mouse over a geography type from the list and click to open a map of the geographic boundaries for that geography type.

Step 4: Select the zones you want to download by checking the toggle box(es) next to each one you want. Click Next.
If you want the data for all geographies of a specific type (e.g. all zip codes) select the first check-box “Select/Unselect All.” When that option is selected, all geographies will be selected. To undo the select-all option, click in the “Select/Unselect All” check box a second time.

Step 5: Select the data you would like to download. Click Next.

Step 6: Click Generate My Data to download the data you selected.
Going Back / Starting Over: For any step, you can click the Back button to return to the prior step. If you want to undo all selections and start from the beginning, click Start Over.

Q: How do I know which geography to select?
A: In Step 3 the label for each geographic type links to a map of that geography. Point your mouse over the geography type and click to open a map. To see an interactive map, please visit the SANDAG Geographic Boundary Viewer: http://gis1.sandag.org/GeoBoundaryViewer/

Q: What if I want ALL of the data for one area, and do not want to click through this application repeatedly?
A: Please visit the Profile Warehouse to download a summary report (in PDF format). http://profilewarehouse.sandag.org/

Q: How should I cite this data?
A: For estimates: SANDAG, Current Estimates (data extracted on: MM/YYYY). For forecast: SANDAG, 2050 Regional Growth Forecast (data extracted on: MM/YYYY). Where MM/YYYY is the month and year on which the data were downloaded by the user.
